1 John 4:19
“We love because he first loved us.”
This short verse offers profound words. People do not wake up one day and decide to love (Romans 3:10). God is love, created love, and loved us first. God loved us before we were capable of loving Him and we can only love others because of what He has done in our lives.
Galatians 5:22-23
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:14
“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
What is love?
1 Corinthians 13:5-8
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Whether in the church or out we don’t know what people are going through. We need to always remember to love others the way the Lord loves us.
